ANDREA MARCHESINI
Andrea Marchesini Born in Verona, he lives and works in Barbarano Vicentino. A child of art, he attended his mother's studio growing up amidst the fascination of painting. He studied art in London, frequenting museums and exhibitions including the Tate Gallery, approaching above all the work of Turner, whose painting of pure light brought him back to the great colouristic lesson of the Venetians. He lives two years in Dublin, visiting unspoilt places with signs of cultures that will be the basis for his pictorial series: ‘Traces’ and ‘City of Silence’; apparitions mixed with lumps, cracks, craters, imprints, stratifications that cross days, years, centuries, millennia, atmospheres of a multicultural and multi-ethnic world, places and symbols that are part of the human walk, where man is absent while nature reclaims its space. In Barcelona, he came into contact with the work of Miró and his colouristic world that makes his paintings explode, while in Rome, where he lived and worked from 2003 to 2006, he rediscovered the origins of classical art. He also devotes himself to large canvases and tapestries that belong to the themes ‘Affabulando’, ‘Oltre la siepe’, ‘Satyricon 2016’ and ‘Action’ where he freely uses all the languages of his time and the past, mixing them with those of cinema, comics, cartoons and satire. The result is a painting in which abstract-expressionist elements emerge, whose sign-like strength recalls the training on models of the past. Communicative energy explodes in the colouristic alternations and superimpositions, where inner traces impose themselves on the exterior of the painting through the substantial sintering of the energetic gesture. Painting of emotion, gestural, strong and decisive, predisposed to fascinate the spectator's gaze. In November 2017, he was invited to Hong Kong, where he received an international award from art critics.
